Fluorescent Lamps - Cost Effective Lighting
Compact fluorescent bulb have become common house hold items as they not only provide bright white light but can also outlast an incandescent bulb by as much as 8-15 times. CLF's come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes and most can be used in the same standard outlets as incandescent bulbs are. Many of the larger companies such as GE and Sylvania also produce a line of fixture to compliment their CFL bulbs.
CFL bulbs allow an individual to save on energy cost as they require a fraction of the electricity that a typical bulb does to produce light. CFL can also save a person money as they do not need to be replaced as often as incandescent bulbs do. While CFL can be more economical CFL do contain mercury and are less recyclable than regular bulbs are.
CFL bulbs can range in price anywhere from $5 on average for small bulbs to $30 dollars or more depending on size and power. While CFL bulbs are more expensive then incandescent bulbs the cost is often negated due to the longevity of the bulbs and the minimal use of power each bulb requires.
For larger spaces such as garages or industrial/commercial use fluorescent tubes and ballast are the standard choice of lamps and have been for many years. Fluorescent tubes and ballasts can provide large amounts of light at minimal costs as they require little amount of power when compared to tradition bulbs. Over all fluorescent bulbs can be both an energy saving and money saving alternative to traditional lighting needs.
